The anti-Smoking campaign using radical methods

Singapore authorities have tightened laws aimed at combating Smoking. Now in this city-state can be displayed on packets of cigarettes on the racks at supermarket cash registers or in the Windows of kiosks. The ban extends to e-cigarettes.

In the beginning of this week the Parliament of Singapore (Singapore), States whose population exceeds 5.5 million people, took an important decision, which is aimed at reducing the number of smokers in the country.

Singapore lawmakers agreed that packs of tobacco products should be solved forever out of sight of potential buyers – it is not only a total ban on advertising of cigarettes, but also their demonstration in the shop Windows.

«Fortunately, in Singapore the proportion of citizens per 1,000 population significantly lower compared to most countries in the region. But this does not entitle us to complacency. We know that the tobacco industry seeks to attract smokers as many young people. The new law protect the younger generation from the dangerous temptation,» said Amy Khor (Amy Khor), the Minister of health of Singapore.

She acknowledged that in recent years, Singapore has been an increase in the number of smokers from 12.6% to 13.3% of the total number of residents of this state.

The new law fully applies to electronic cigarettes, which are also prohibited to display in showcases to potential buyers.

In the past few years, the government of Singapore has consistently introduced a number of measures aimed at reducing the number of smokers in this country.

The excise duty on tobacco products in Singapore is one of the highest in the world, Smoking in public places, including outdoors is prohibited everywhere in Singapore – violators face a fine of 1,000 Singapore dollar (730 USD).
