Employees of the American company Samumed report that they have created a drug that is intended to treat male pattern baldness, successfully completed another phase of testing.
The creators of the drug that can restore self-esteem to hundreds of millions of bald men and to save them from inferiority complex, recently presented the results of the 2nd phase of testing at the annual conference of the American Association of dermatologists (American Academy of Dermatology).
A new drug has only a technical name SM04554; it is designed to be rubbed into the scalp for men who have lost vegetation on the head, this means that SM04554 should be rubbed directly into the bald spot.
In testing was attended by 302 representatives of the stronger sex of different ages suffering from androgenetic alopecia, the most common type of male pattern baldness.
All the participants were divided into 3 groups. Participants from the first group for 3 months every day rubbed his scalp SM04554 solution concentration of 0.15 %. In the second group used a more «robust» solution – 0.25%, and a third control groups rubbed the liquid placebo.
After the end of the treatment period, the observation of participants was conducted for another 45 days.
It was found that in men, terauchi in the scalp SM04554, there was an increase in the amount of hair in the balding area – as a result of exposure of the drug began to grow hair thicker. The average increase in the number of hairs per 1 cm2 was 10.1 in the first group and 7.7 in the second.
And in the control group of participants went further thinning of hair. In this group the number of hairs per 1 cm2 decreased in participants by an average of 2.5.
