The Cabinet plans to purchase new Toyota Prius and Toyota RAV4 with hybrid propulsion systems for patrol of the police in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. For the purchase of new machines will be allocated 43 million. About this at the government meeting said Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Minister of internal Affairs Arsen Avakov.

The head of government instructed the Ministry of ecology and natural resources together with other responsible agencies to negotiate the use of surplus funds, received by Ukraine under the Kyoto Protocol, for the purchase of hybrid vehicles for the National police. Arseniy Yatsenyuk noted that the total amount under the Kyoto Protocol is 1 billion UAH, and at the present time an agreement on the use of the remaining funds shall coordinate with the Japanese side. He also offered to share the rest of the «Kyoto» funds in separate tranches: the first, 70% for the conversion of vehicles of the police and the rest to be used for the modernization of the Kiev subway trains.

According to the Minister of internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, the purchase of additional hybrids will allow Toyota to complete the reform of the National police in the creation of the Patrol police. The first town in July of 2015, started working patrol police, was in Kyiv. Currently the patrol work already in 20 cities of Ukraine. The next step is the launch of the police in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. «For units of a new patrol police of Donetsk and Lugansk regions and will be purchased vehicles are hybrid Toyota Prius and Toyota RAV4,» — said the press service of the Ministry of internal Affairs.

We will remind, the exchange of environmental quotas of Ukraine under the Kyoto Protocol was launched in 2011. The agreement with Japan provided for the use of funds from the sale of units of emissions solely under various environmental projects, including the upgrade of the outdated fleet of the Ministry of interior the hybrid Toyota Prius. The last agreement on technical reequipment of 348 cars the Ministry of interior for the needs of police was signed in March 2015.

Separately, the interior Ministry has purchased in the last year 192 of Renault Dokker and 104 instance Renault Duster with special signals and additional equipment. Such patrols can already be seen on the streets of Kiev.
